Should the workplace encourage their employees to get involved more volunteering?
The benefits of volunteering come in many forms as we have already discussed in some of my earlier blog posts. Volunteering not only increases an individuals intrapersonal skills but can also enhance their interpersonal skills too. These characteristics are valuable to the workplace and contribute to a healthy and successful workforce. So my question is, should the workplace actually encourage their employees to become involved in volunteering schemes with the aim of positively developing their workforce and benefiting the wider organisation?

No I don't think it should be down to the organisations. If the individual wants to do it, they should be the one's to decide for themselves. That's my take on it anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Sara, I don't agree I think organisations should have a level of responsibility when it comes to getting their employees more involved in volunteering schemes and helping the wider community, especially companies like Shell who have a large impact on our communities. I'd like to see more of this.
ReplyDeleteI've studied CSR at uni and some companies do encourage their employees to volunteer their time to help/ support their local community, it does wonders for their reputation...is this 'unethical' or is it just good to see companies doing their bit?
