Celebrities getting down and dirty...

Last week radio one gave one of their most popular DJ's Tim Westwood, five days of intensive volunteering challenges. His challenges included; working in a charity shop with Alexandra Burke, getting filthy cleaning a river bank with Scott Mills, mucking out at a farm and visiting a social centre for the over-60's. To find out how Westwood, or The Big Dog as he is better known got on, check out radio one's website for photo's, films and downloads (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/localhero/).

Tim's activities sparked a lot of interest among the young listeners and appeared to have a really positive effect on the audience. Do you think this is the key to getting more young people involved in volunteering? Is celebrity endorsement the answer to all our problems?

  1. I really enjoyed listening to how Westwood got on with his challenges, I think he's hilarious! It's great to see celeb's getting involved in volunteering projects I think it has a really positive effect on engaging with you people and getting them to change their behaviour. Great job!
