What qualities make for a successful volunteer?

Voluntary organisations will often look out for certain characteristics in individuals when deciding whether to take the person on to help them with a project. An obvious characteristic is someone that is flexible and has the time to give to a project. Other characteristics are not so obvious. They might include; commitment, a willingness to collaborate with others and enthusiasm. What other qualities do you think make for a successful volunteer?

  2. I agree, enthusiasm is a MUST. I think it really depends on the type of voluntary activity though. If it's something with children then patience is going to be really important. If you are working in a shop then a polite, friendly and helpful attitude always goes down well.
